Stage Manager Position

The Black Motherhood and Parenting Festival, produced by Blackboard Plays and Parent Artist Advocacy League, is looking for a Stage Manager for its 2022 season!

 

Blackboard Plays is partnering with Parent Artist Advocacy League (PAAL) to promote a platform for Black Playwrights who tell stories about Black Families. Black parenthood is often overlooked in our national and artistic conversations and represented without any nuance. That’s why this festival is so important.

 

We opened up submissions to playwrights and have chosen our top four finalists. Their 30-40 minute plays will be produced virtually and will virtually premiere in the Fall of 2022. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Stage Manager(s) will report to the Producers and oversee stage management activities for all four shows

  • Will assist in upholding and updating the production calendar 

  • Work with the individual Directors & Producers to create and distribute the rehearsal schedule

  • Create and distribute the rehearsal Zoom links 

  • Begin preparation for virtual rehearsals 

  • Attend all rehearsals & captures

  • Attend and participate in all production and needed administrative meetings

  • Coordinate all Production Meetings

  • Create and distribute show company contact sheet

  • Oversee the collection of all show company's Comm Form Information, Headshots and Bios

  • Distribute the script to all show companies

  • Oversee and distribute script changes and update the BMPFest Script folder to the most updated version

  • Promptly relay all needed technical elements to the Producing Team

  • Track cast attendance during rehearsals

  • Send out daily rehearsal reports to the show company and OTF Executive Staff

  • Oversee the uploading of captured content to Dropbox

  • Ensure that the Production Team has all needed recordings and answer any questions that they might have during the editing process

  • Help oversee Talkbacks, Panel Recordings and Interview Recordings

  • Participate in a festival debrief, with the Executive Staff, after the festival closes

  • Other duties as assigned

COMPENSATION: 

This position will receive a $1500 flat fee stipend for this project. This stipend will be paid in three parts.

28-31: Show #2 Capture 

 

AUGUST

9-17: Show #3 Rehearsal (off on the 15th)

18-21: Show #3 Capture

23-31: Show #4 Rehearsal (off on the 29th)

 

SEPTEMBER

1-4: Show #4 Capture

6-14: Show #1 Rehearsal (off on the 12th)

15-18: Show #1 Capture

20-24: Stream Show #1

24: Show #1 Talkback

27-31: Stream Show #2

30: Show #2 Talkback

NOVEMBER

3-7: Stream Show #3

7: Show #3 Talkback

10-14: Stream Show #4
